Canonical recently released the Ubuntu on Windows Community Preview, a special build of its OS for WSL 2. The goal is to provide a space for the community to collectively shape the future of Ubuntu on WSL, experimenting with new features and functionality in a sandbox environment.

ROS Extended Security Maintenance

Great news for the robotics community: Open Robotics and Canonical announced a partnership around extended security maintenance (ESM) and enterprise support for the Robot Operating System (ROS). This will make it easy to access a hardened and long-term supported ROS system for robots,  with a single contact point for enterprise support.

Kubernetes 1.21: Full enterprise support

Earlier this week, Canonical announced full enterprise support for Kubernetes 1.21, covering Charmed Kubernetes, MicroK8s, and kubeadm. The goal is to remove complexity around Kubernetes operations from cloud to edge.
